Once again, what you say is not unreasonable but should be clarified with these points:

Substantiated truth and evidence are needed for a clear cut victory for one side or the other in a court of law. All else is on a balance of probabilities and perceptions. The latter comes from what people see, read and hear and how they choose to interpet that. They are all relevant factors in a democracy for deciding who we choose to run things on our behalf. (Politicians can tend to forget why they were originally elected).

You are right of course that you don't actually vote for 'no overall control'. Sometimes it just happens unintentionally. Alternatively it is an outcome that requires tactical voting and if it is done correctly, smartly and people keep to their stated intentions then it can be achieved.

With regard to all of the meeting structures, whether it be planning or anything else in our Borough, I totally disagree with the set up and how it is weighted against the individual or opposer. With a fairer set of rules and a level playing field, I'm sure there would be less heckling and frustration out there. Sometimes the 'official' side or developer might actually lose, what a shock and perish the thought. At least we'll have proper democracy and fairer sense of acceptance.

If you agree with that and would champion that and genuinely act to get things changed, you'd certainly have my support. See you at a Development Control meeting sometime. You'll see me beam when the system has changed!
