Fair comment also. The corruption allegations are muddied waters in the sense of nothing is proven beyond doubt either way and the only defence I've seen either from or on behalf of alleged offenders is one of 'there is no evidence to support this.' That does not necessarily mean it isn't true or correct, simply that it is not proven. Hard evidence would also need to be forthcoming from the other side to be sure of an allegation not being true. Outside of a court of law we draw conclusions based on weighing up what is put before us and our own hunches. You may not like that but it is a natural human trait. Just look at the Afghanistan situation and Tony Blair's public relations attempts of winning over different cultural opinions, to draw a grander scale analogy.

The intimidation, including bullet holes through Richard Meacock's shop front window is a disturbing factor. Four occasions of shop front window breakages suggests more than a hooligan or burglary intent. There are other serious allegations of cover ups regarding the ice rink which haven't been properly answered (e.g. a denied meeting of 25th September with Cllr Razall regarding compensation) and the death of the legal counsel around this time can only be speculated as to coincidence or something more sinister, but it does make you wonder.

The point I am making is that for the moment, both sides are chasing around in circles on that front and baggage can hold you up in how to resolve an unsatisfactory situation.
Incompetence, mismanagement, poor performance etc are easier to prove, are reported elsewhere for wider consumption and it is on that record I would hope the residents in Richmond decide it is time for a change of management. No overall control looks realistic and is preferable to another political party with the power to make 'new or old mistakes'. Everyone should also be more accountable in a balanced set up.

You are right in saying that it is never clear cut between good and bad in any walk of life. I just hope for more good forming the substantial majority as unfortunately, the bad element to me seems to be far too high at present. I think I'd put you on the good side though I have heard that you are much more polite and ready to explain in this forum than you have been personally at planning meetings. I must come and observe you at some stage to discover if that is true or not.
