Oh dear.

That response is too clever by half.

Councillor Cardy has obviously not yet realised what the clawback is worth. A share of approximately 50 per cent of the receipts was in effect transferred.

We were told that the housing stock was to be sold to RHP. It would therefore be perfectly reasonable and natural to expect that the new owner would benefit fully from any subsequent sale. There would normally be no reason for anyone, Councillor or otherwise, to suppose otherwise.

I found out only because of an anonymous tip off. Except for a question I put to David Done and Peter Wilson in July 1999 at York House I can't remember anyone, Councillor or otherwise, ever mentioning the issue, not even at the Housing Transfer Committee meeting in November when it was supposed to be an agenda item.

Does it come naturally to these people to be so wickedly devious and disingenuous or do they have to work at it?
