It would be fair of me to put the point that if the formula was changed to give us more money but at the same time no more money was put into local government, the effect would be to give less money to other boroughs and perhaps replicate the injustice.

The only way of resolving the issue is via a different method of local authority funding. Lib Dem policy is a local income tax. That too would require redistribution as the tax yield per penny in the pound would be much higher in a borough such as this one than in a poorer area. I am not at all sure there is a fair way of doing it.

Although the borough does use the LGA to respond to consultation papers, that doesn't mean that they don't advise the LGA what their position is and ask them to represent that position.

You must ask whether the Government is likely to take more notice of an LGA response, backed by loads of councils, or the views of Puddlehampton Parish council.
