In the last decade rents paid by council,housing association and private sector tenants
have all increased.

Between 1990 and 1999/2000 the average weekly rent:

for council tenants nearly doubled from £23.70 to £44

for registered social landlord (or housing associations )tenants nearly doubled from
£29 to £56.

in the private rented sector increased by 90 per cent from £45 to £86
