How else do you think a party group should nominate someone to a council position?

The only other possibility would be that the Leader nominates someone to the Council.

We had an election for our leader too, when David Williams stepped down. What is sinister about that? Electing people even seems to have trickled down to the Conservatives, and they have selected the lovely Mr Duncan Smith to lead them along the garden path to nirvana.

The Chairmanships of the four scrutiny committees (and their memberships) are proportionally based, with one Conservative Chair and one Vice Chair, and one Labour Vice Chair.

It would be a little hard for the numbers to be balanced, especially as over one fifth of the Tory Group son't want to be on the committees anyway. There is just not enough bums for the seats.
