I do not know about "the vast majority" of complaints referred to the District Auditor which "Knowledgeable" claims to have been found unproven.

I have seen the District Auditor's reports on the Civic Centre and Richmond Theatre (second report) both of which are critical of the Council; the first to a major degree and the latter less so, despite his finding that the late Chief Executive was unwise.

I have been involved in three complaints.

Our complaint on the Shene School All-weather Pitch was upheld to the extent that the Council were severely criticised for a breach of tendering procedures and a leading Liberal councillor for accepting hospitality from one of the tenderers during the tendering process in which she played a prominent part.

My complaint on the costly Waterslides debacle led to a report severely criticising the Council for its misuse of emergency procedures to avoid public disclosure and debate.

Our most recent complaint in respect of the Squires/Fulwell sale only drew minor criticisms of the Council from the District Auditor so we went to the Audit Commission. ThecCommission has issued a report criticising the District Auditor in two major respects. So much so, that we have been advised that the Dostrict Auditor's Report is invalid.

Sir David Williams can no longer pretend that the Council has been cleared by the District Auditor in this matter and this is probably why both he and his tame solicitors, Goodman Derrick , who have issued threatening letters on his behalf, have gone so quiet and backed off.
