REPLY TO KNOWLEDGABLE.1. Richmond Ice Rink was in private ownership from 1927, thank God. I shudder to think what would have happened had it been run by this Council who fail to run toilets without problems. Now that is facetious, but I do 'acknowledge neither owned the land Etc Etc. But can't see what the point is. 2.The Ice Rink had planning permission and required another planning permission to change use, by this means Councils do control land/buildings. 3. Richmond Ice Rink was a private profitable company throughout its history. I am unaware of any subsidies paid to Ice Rinks EXCEPT those run by Councils.4. I, personally was prepared to buy and run Richmond Ice Rink.. I am also aware of many stand alone ice-rinks but Richmond was ,and should be replaced by a double ice pad facility with training and TV event capability.. Its potential profitability is assured. My Lottery Application set the figures out to the satisfaction of Sport England. 5. My contact with Richmond Council or Officers has been negligable due entirely to THEIR unwillingness to meet ( Except when forced to in The High Court ).6. Yes we have had discussions with The Crown Commissioners with mutual understanding, the only problem being the lease held by Richmond Council.The siting of an ice rink adjacent to The Pools on The Park was given Planning Permission by This Council to The Beckwith Brothers. I hope these brief ,off the cuff answers does indeed help in letting visitors to this site decide on the veracity of Cllr Mann's response.
