A few simple questions for Mr Meacock.

Do you acknowledge that Richmond Council neither owned the land, nor ran the actual ice rink when it was in East Twickenham?

Do you accept that no council has, or had, the powers to order a private company or individual not to close his/her business and not to sell it's land?

How many ice rinks in the UK are currently run by a local Council or private operator and require no public subsidy to operate?

Have you identified a private operator who is prepared to run a stand-a-lone ice rink only (i.e.: not one that requires either a multiplex cinema, large shopping type centre development or office complex with associated car parking alongside it to make an ice rink economically viable)?

Have you ever supplied any Councillor, or Council Officer, with the name of that operator so discussions could be entered in to?

Have you or potential operators ever had discussions with the Crown Commissioners (who "own" the Old Deer Park) or the local Amenity/Resident groups about siting an ice rink next to the pools?

I only ask these questions because your (Richard Meacock's) answers will help in letting visitors to this site decide on the veracity of Cllr Mann's response.
