The Government needs to know by the end of November if Richmond wants to put in a bid for this scheme. Any such bid will have to be approved by Richmond's Cabinet, so worth keeping an eye on the agendas for those meetings.

It would be nice to think that people like John Inglis could be involved, but given this is a national project its more likely that New Labour have already promised the contract to one of the big firms.

And as I understand it any form of electronic voting would still involve a trip to the polling station. In Stratford upon Avon last year, touch screens replaced paper ballots - and no accusations of fraud arose there!
