Like many others I voted Lib Dem at the parliamentary election. In the last council election, I voted for that cloaked, behatted bufoon David Cornwall, that was before I understood what an incompetent idiot he really is.
It amazes me that so many people are so ignorant. It seems anyone who is not online does not have a clue what is really happening in this borough now. Someone online like "active voter" should be aware of local issues and it is worrying that he/she did not even know of Cllr Barnowl's disqualification as a company director which was announced at the High Court almost 4 years ago and has appeared many times in Watchdog (just look back a few months). Until June, Cllr Barnowl was on the Disqualified Directors list on the Company's house website but his period of disqualification is now over, as is his Chairmanship of Richmond Social Services. If one only reads the Richmond and Twickenham Times, then one can be excused for not knowing what is going on in this borough, they refused to carry the story about Barnowl. Just keeping one's eyes and ears open should indicate what a farce the RTT reporting has become.
We need a new, objective, local press here and there is hope that Newsquest will provide it although as they also own the Richmond Guardian and the Comet it is not necessarily a good sign that they own yet another local paper. Everyone loses except Dimbleby who just took the money and ran! And who can blame him.
