You may have noticed that the particular issues I pursue tend to be those that nobody else had pursued, nor would they have ever have pursued them. It is not a bundle of fun to find oneself in that position.

The prospects for the Green Party are also dismal. It is no good to pretend otherwise. Candidates in a general election at best can hope to save their deposits. Local groups typically consist of a handful of enthusiasts. Unless overwhelmed by support I do not myself intend to stand but we hope to make a showing in the next elections, to at least give those who seek another way the opportunity to say so.

To achieve this a small number of people put in a lot of time. They work themselves into the ground. They also pay a huge membership fee. The Party is not likely to be getting "cashback" contributions from developers. i therefore hesitate to reccomend the experience.

In most ordinary senses I am pessimistic. Paradoxically, this seems to me to be the only hope. The tendency to play make believe is what is wrong with politics as we know it. Promises. Promises. Bull@#$&! Bull@#$&!

My one hope is that the truth is a strong ally, a very difficult one to defeat. If I serve it it may yet serve me. In the World of politics this may appear to be a very strange, perversely conceived concept but I nevertheless stick with it.
