Sounds like the pain you are having may be the result of what is referred to as "lateral column overload". Patients who have undergone plantar fasciotomy procedures (cutting of the arch support tissue) for chronic heel pain can develop this. Heel spurs don't cause pain, inflammation of the arch tissue (plantar fascia) does. If the inner portion of the plantar fascia (medial/central bands) are severed, the arch can on occasion flatten out, and more stress can be placed on the outer aspect of the foot and remaining arch support tissue. Treatment is generally with an appropriate orthotic device, physical therapy and ant-inflammatory medication. Not having examined your foot, there are certainly other potential causes of your discomfort. I would recommend seeing a board certified podiatrist or foot & ankle orthopedist in your area for more help.
