Doing bilateral bunion surgery is not uncommon. It is important to know what type of procedure is being considered. Some bunion surgery procedures will require non-weight bearing for several weeks while others allow immediate weight bearing. What type of procedure has been recommended for you? Do you live alone? Will you have assistance after surgery? Will you be trying to return to work quick ly after the procedures? The proper procedures, when well planned, for the appropriate patient, under circumstances where the patient is well informed of the expected post-operative course can be performed safely and reasonably on both feet at the same time.
