Thanks for your responses. The procedure I'm having done is: Hallux valgus w/metatarsal osteot. It sounds like this is the one done at the head of the metarsal, as the doctor said no cast is required, only special shoes, and I might be able to walk after a couple of weeks (depending on when I feel ready). Does this sound right per earlier descriptions of the various procedures and recovery times? I'm hoping this is good news.
