From what I can understand from your reply, is that you agree that an orthotic would only cause discomfort, as it would take up more area in an already confined space:...'the orthosis remained intolerable irrespective reason.'(?) Though, I am not sure that I will easily find a pair of walking boots, 'with an elevated heel with steel or rigid shank.' Unfortunately, after several emails and a phone call to Red Wing, in the U.S, it seems that despite their website describing a range of their boots as, 'Hikers,' they are not designed for hikers but for people working in the construction industry, etc. Finally, I've come to the conclusion that the orthotic was probably a waste of money, and I'll just try to find boots in a larger size (a half or whole size larger).
