the steel shank is confined to superior surface of the sole.this essentially would preclude the necessity for an orthotic.this made sense to me as the orthosis remained intolerable irrespective reason.
recognize that all feet must pronate to achieve propulsion and toe-off (ie.walking/running).
your particular example/history suggests that perhaps an orthsis may not be appropriate, however, appropriate shoe gear may all that is deemed necessary. Each patients' foot complaint does NOT require biomechanical control(orthotic) and a shoe with an elevated heel with steel or rigid shank will probably provide satifactory results in your case.in any event try the on and walk with it in the store beforew purchase and shop at the end of the day when fatigue and edema are most prominent in all of us.
the rigidity of the shank and elevated heel will provide good stability and function as well as eliminate any irritation such as an orthotic may cause.
good luck and let me know how it comes out. |
