The bone stimulator would seem to be the perfect thing for a person in your situation.
I really don't think that I was the type of person that needed one.
I was just having the first foot surgery of my life and I was JUST menopausal so my POD strongly suggested it.
I will tell you that I think my POD was getting a nice kick back from "selling them".
The reason that it was not covered for me was because I was not proven to be having a problem with healing. I was given one 10 days after my first foot surgery.
But, here is the irony. I sat next to a person on an airplane who was also given a bone stimulator. She had REAL scary healing problems (osteoperosis) and a leg fracture that did not heal in 6 months). I asked her if she had a bone stimulator and she said yes. However, she also said that her insurance ultimately would not pay for it.
However, with arguments she was able to absolve herself of the cost. The stimulator Co. absorbed it.
I did use it diligently with the first surgery. It made me swell a lot!! It must have been working. But, I didn't use it for the second foot and healed even better!!!!
Please, I am not saying that you shouldn't use one. It does do something (at least increase circulation to the area).
Make the sales person very aware of what I have told you.
Document what is said to you!!! Keep the business cards so that you know who to contact if you have problems.
A long story but it is the truth......
