Hi Everyone, I am hoping that someone here can help me out.
My foot started hurting in January. I was limping and having a hard time walking on it. Well I went to my Primary care doctor and they sent me for x-rays. The x-ray came back normal so they sent me to a podiatrist. I went to the podiatrist every other week for about 6 weeks and he kept sending me for x-rays with nothing ever showing. Well finally he sent me for an MRI and that showed a fracture of the 2nd metatarsal. The doc said that it was a stress fracture and put me in a Cam walker boot that I wore for 4 weeks. He sent me for another x-ray and said it came back normal(he only looked at the x-ray not the radiologist report which did show something wrong I found out later). He then sent me for a bone scan just to make sure everything was ok and told me to stop wearing the boot. That was about 2 weeks ago. Since then my foot has been hurting more than it did before with lots of swelling.
Also, about 3 weeks after the pain began, I developed this red spot on the top of my foot. It scabbed over and the scab fell off about a week later. This was around the beginning of february and I can still see where it was because it is a pink color. When the spot appeared the pain went almost all away except for when I move my toes. Since then I have had 2 more of these red spots come up. The doc says they are just folliculitis and gave me some cream 2 weeks ago that hasn't even phased the spots.
I called the doc on Friday to get the results of the bone scan and they didn't have them yet but the nurse said that if I am still hurting and swollen I need to start wearing the boot again. I hurts when walking if I bend my toes and it hurts on the top of the foot above the metatarsals (although most of the pain is above the 4th and 5th) and all along the bottom of the foot. It also hurts if I wiggle my toes. I have been limping a lot lately because it hurts to walk. It even hurts when I walk in the boot now.
Any insight, advice, help, thoughts, would be greatly appreciated. I am considering finding a new doc if he doesn't get on the ball and do something. |
