John,
Rest assured that Foot Doc, Darsey and Laura are one and the same individual. Foot doc, like many "docs" are worried about a loss of income from reduced numbers of "hands-on examinations". I have PF, which was diagnosed by a wonderful foot/ankle orthopaedic surgeon. The "hands-on examination" consisted of him taking my foot and holding it in his hand for about 2 seconds, after which he immediately diagnosed plantar fasciitis. He did the following - sold me night splints and collected his fee.
The night splints were great by the way. If I were you I would look at "The Book" at heelspurs.com. The book is just an online text about PF. I'm not saying it sounds like you have PF. But that text may be helpful in ruling it in or out.
I can tell you that I have PF in the arch of my foot, and rubbing along the arch does not cause any pain for me.
You should also see a doctor, probably a good podiatrist. I would get recommendations from other runners. |
