SinceI've been unable to find any message related to surgical shortening of the second toe, I'm responding here. I am on my feet more than 8 hours/day working. I rarely get to sit down. I have 2 long second toes that are at least 1/2 inch longer than my big toes. I've tried for many years (age 63) to get shoes that support my feet and don't hurt. I do try to fit the second toes which makes the rest of the shoe a poor fit for the rest of my foot. I now have foot pain and am diagnosed with calcium deposits and plantar fascitis. I can't stand for long periods without lots of pain. I'm being treated with exercise, rest, ossitron treatment( in a week), and shortening of the long toes. I'd like to find someone out there who has had this surgery done. Doctor says he will remove a length of the bone below one of the toe joints through a small incision and I should be back on my feet within a couple of weeks. The thought of being able to wear shoes and be pain free is appealing. Is This a safe surgery and will I really be able to return to work so soon?
