A proper little conversation we are having,we must get together sometime,address at bottom,and my brother Chris Fulke Greville only lives at Weybridge,Surrey,he has just bought a new house at 12 Innes Rd, Burwood Park.You can call him on 0844-3351801
My nan came over in 1913 without her husband Charles Walmer Ascroft,she lived in Knightsbridge and worked in the War Office with her relations including her boss who was her uncle Charles Beresford Fulke Greville,3rd Baron Greville.
The affair must have happened in 1915 because she concieved her child while working at the War Office.
Because Baron Greville was married and had a son Ronnie Greville born in 1912 it would have been very embarrassing to have it known about this child.
She was sent to Longfield,Ankerwycke Priory,Wraysbury because her husband Charles Walmer Ascroft was a first cousin to the Harcourts of Ankerwycke and it was out of the way in the country.
We wonder if the Harcourts of Ankerwycke where told that the young Cecil Violet Enid Greville Ascroft(nickname Jummy)was having a close relatives child and gave this young 18 year old a Manor House.
Her husband Charles Walmer Ascroft was serving in the British Army in South Africa and as far as we are aware he never came to England during WW1.
There was talk that he came looking for her after the war in 1919,found she had a child,packed his bags and left her.
Nan went back to London life and met her second husband Air Vice Marshal Edward Irvine Bussell and married him in 1927 at Knightsbridge registry office.
