Thank you very kindly for the replies. I sincerely appreciate your input. I'll most certainly select the surgeon carefully. The ultimate decision (for surgeon selection) has never hinged upon the type of fixation. My interest in this aspect of the procedure has more to do with the curious reference that Surgeon #2 made of "not wanting" a screw in my foot and whether this position reflected some significant potential for screw fixation (in general) to result in an undesirable outcome for which I was completely unaware vs. a surgeon's comfort level & skill with a particular method/material. And,(perhaps)a small dig at the 'competition'.

Regardless, it's a wise reminder, and one that I'll heed, to not become 'fixated' upon the least important details while letting the more critical questions about credentials, experience, and indeed references go unexplored. Thank you again, and warm regards.
