First of all, there is no particular reason to necessarily conclude that the spurs and the pain on top of the foot are associated. A high arched foot frequently is associated with tension on the Achilles tendon and the plantar fascia, so it is not surprising that you have plantar and retro-calcaneal spurs. Quite obviously, if you have had x-rays, you have been to a doctor. Did he/she not discuss with you possible causes of the dorsal pains or did he/she just slough it off by telling you about the calcaneal spurs? The high-arched foot is often a difficult one with which to live, and dorsal pains can be caused by a number of problems, such as the shoe being too tight on the dorsum and irritating superficial nerves. But that's merely a guess, and any definitive answer to your question would have to be based on a knowledgeable examination. Forums such as this are poor venues for obtaining diagnoses, as the diagnostic process requires far more than the word description of the patient. Venues such as this are more useful for discussion of possible treatment alternatives once a diagnosis has been established. You need to see a doctor who will focus on your complaint, and not just beg off with the type of findings you have been offered without an explanation as to how it pertains to your symptoms.
