Actually, bunions are definitely the cause here. In both cases, the bunions would be shaved off as well. According to one doctor (the Green-Watermann preferred), I have a bunion not only on the outside of my foot (big toe) but also on top of my big toe, in what he describes as a "door jam"...not allowing flexion which is creating the capsulitis. As long as you're throwing latin terms around, what is the difference between HALLUX LIMITUS, HALLUX VALGUS, and HALLUX RIGIDIS (which I have heard from both doctors). Also, is there a "rule of thumb" for choosing a PODIATRIST vs. an ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON????
