My question is about rubbing castor oil on your bunion will help "eat away" the calcium buildup on the bone. I've also heard to wrap your foot in duct tape after applying the castor oil for the day and also repeat while you sleep. Does this really work?

Irrespective of the fact that castor oil is not capable of penetrating the skin in any significant concentration and irrespective of the fact that I know of absolutely no actual medical/scientific evidence that castor oil can dissolve calcium salts in the body, even if it could penetrate the skin . . bunions are NOT calcium deposits.
The bony "bump" characteristic of a bunion is either hypertrophic bone formation (calcium and bone are not synonymous), osteoarthritic bony proliferation or the result of relative positional changes of the first metatarsal head due to the splaying of the first metatarsal (metatarsus primus varus) and/or the deviation of the great toe toward the 5th toe (hallux valgus).
NOTHING will correct a true bunion deformity other than surgery . . . NOTHING !
