There are many conditions that cause heel pain. One of them is plantar fasciitis. This usually hurts in the AM and again after sitting an standing(like after lunch). It usually does not get progressivley worse as the day goes by. There are two nerve conditions that can cause heel pain. One is medial calcaneal neuirtis. This is usually on the inside of the heel. The other is entrapment of the fisrt branch of the lateral planter nerve. This usually is on the bottom of your foot towards the outsde of your foot. The conservative treatment for these conditions is injection therapy, oral medications but most importantly you must control the foot to stop the condition that is making this worse. We reccommend a UCO Heel cup. This is a silicone gel cushion that goes under your heel. On the website badheel.com there is an article that talks about different heel conditions. M Stern, DPM |
