All this is total and utter rubbish.
There are NO plans whatsoever to 'outsource' the education service in the Borough. The only negotiations that are taking place are with companies tendering to win the PFI contracts to build 2 new primary schools and provide extra accommodation for primary age pupils within the Borough.
These discussions take place with the full knowledge, and involvement, of education staff, headteachers, teachers, governors, the press and even councillors.
Those interested in the facts will be pleased to learn that this means two new schools (built, and the buildings managed, by the private sector, but the schools operating as any school currently does in the maintained sector), will provide badly needed extra places in the Borough. A Borough that of course produces some of the highest SAT results in the Country.
If people want to advance conspiracy theories - and make nasty personal innuendoes into the bargain - please at least get the facts straight first!

It is interesting to note that Vincent McDonnel left the Authority under a cloud. Furthermore, he was appointed to his post at Richmond by Robert Hancock who failed to declare is interest in the appointmnet whilst living with "Vinny" as, ahem, a "personal friend" on his boat.
Is there one Councillor who is prepared to admit this shameful sequence of events? Or are they all engaged in a last cynical Parthian shot before their final execution at next May's election? Noblesse oblige. But then, quite clearly, they are not noble, are they? |
