Fighting Fire And Focusing Fear

I fight fire and focus fear
Both are formidable foes when allied with tinder and smoke
I need both in degree to defeat both and survive
The fire of desire and purpose with enough fear to stay alive
Always struggling to control that which hungers to rage uncontrollable
One feeding off the other consuming all that is consumable
I extinguish first the fires of fear in the victims eyes
by insuring they never see a trace in mine
They must believe I can predict the unpredictable
routinely surmount the insurmountable
that I will protect them with my life
delivering back to parents, children, husbands and wife
But its not enough to cage only the one beast
Somewhere its soul mate grows in strength
With all in its reach weekend and strained
lusting for more ashes to add to its fame
it is for this I was born and trained
to battle the fear and the flame
while understanding and respecting same
and one thing you come to understand
is no matter how much effort or how well trained
you will not always succeed, with little time for tears
Forever endeavoring to fan inner flames
and fighting to focus the fears
