Mr Antony Berend suggests making enquiries of local councillors by E-mailing them with CCs to Watchdog Open Forum. This seems an extremely sound idea. Not only would it provide a record for all to see but it also requires one to supply a valid E-mail address.
According to a number of substantive checks I have come to conclude that this forum has unfortunately attracted a certain number of hoaxers and non-existent identities. Mr Berend's idea would expose this too. I cannot have been the only potential contributor who has been puzzled by the lack of record which accompanies some names present on these pages. Who are these people? And what is the point of them pretending to represent positions in society which they do not hold? I shall watch with great interest to see if and how this proposal takes more shape. |
