I heard about Watchdog a few months ago through journo' gossip and I have been watching with great interest how Watchdog is gradually exposing the corrupt core of Richmond Council. The latest neck to be wrung, Rowena, is indeed a major coup for Watchdog. Rowena, Queen of PR (Poisoned Relations). What amazes me about Richmond Council is how many people in that organisation are kept in ignorance of what is actually going on. All but a few members and officers seem to be kept in total ignorance, how can the members be so naive. We know more as reporters on the outside than they do. LBRuT staff morale is at rock bottom.

I am surprised how many officers in Richmond dont even know the names of their own senior executives or about any of the big scams such as Squires, the Theatre or the Riverside. They only know what gets in the local papers which has been subjected to Rowena's spin and then politically filtered by the RTT. Other councils I work with are far more savvy.

I hear the Executive are now excluding access to websites they disapprove of from the Richmond Council intranet so both officers and members will probably have to use a non-council internet connection if they are to read this letter.

It seems Stalin is alive and well and working in Twickenham.

Whatever next? Maybe if officers or members mention the name "Richard Meacock" they will have to go and wash their mouths out with soap.
