Like 22 footballers the posters on this site perform before thousands. October for instance saw 417 postings yet 26,000 visitors logging on. Obviously people log on many times,because once you've read it, it can become addictive. Many are concerned that interest in politics is waning as mirrored in poor turn-outs at recent elections. These ' listener' numbers refute that completely and even more meaningfully when you think of all the 'computerphobes' not taking part in a place like Richmond. I am reliably informed hardly a London newspaper,TV or Radio station worth its salt is not checking Watchdog daily . Any minute now www.islandofmanhattan.com goes on-line with its own Watchdog. Perhaps the revelations of Richmond will shortly be mirrored by the 'real' New York. Perhaps democracy will be improved as seems to be happening here, we live in hope. Although how its New Mayor spending 60,000,000 $ on his own campaign can be called a reasonable democratic process, beats me.
