First of all, although you have stated very little in description of your problem other than that you have pain, nothing which you have offered would necessarily make one think of gout. It would really be fruitless to list all of the often diverse conditions which might cause pain in your big toe joint. The basis of any real information would be by a hands-on physical examination and evaluation. The diagnostic process does not lend itself well to Internet forums such as this, as it is unduly difficult to obtain sufficient and reliable information, and such information cannot be tested with physical examination. You are not likely to obtain any definitive answers on which you might rely in venues such as this, and there is substantial risk of receiving incorrect diagnoses which may lead you to self-treat in a non-productive and possible harmful manner. There is no substitute for the hands-on evaluation by a qualified specialist, and I recommend that you obtain one. If you would like a general discussion of the diagnosis once it is reliably obtained or a review of the range of treatment options, you may wish to return here.
