Hi, I sprained my ankle really badly four months ago. My whole foot was swollen for two months. I couldn't get proper treatment right away because of the Christmas season. Now, the doctors are saying the ankle is healed. But my ankle is still swollen on the outside and around the top, it's not going down even with ice, elevation or compression. I also have lost a lot of motion in it, I can walk, but I can't run or jump or anything like I used to be able to. I've sprained my ankle in the past and have always strengthened it and received good treatment. I've never had this kind of problem before. I recently saw a specialist at the Credit Valley fracture clinic. He told me that the xrays are normal and that he couldn't say why I'm experiencing these difficulties. He also told me that my injury may never heal and I'd have to just live with the pain. Is this true? If not, what else can I do? |
