I know that we've had our philosophic differences before, Dr. Ozer, and I don't wish to start a "battle-royal" between us, but this sort of "shoot-from-the-hip" diagnosis, based on clearly insufficient patient information, is really not very productive. Especially inappropriate, in my opinion, is your conclusion that surgery might be needed without your knowing any real facts on which to base such an aggressive conclusion.

SURE . . You could be correct, just as a broken clock is accurate twice a day, but you MUST know that you are just shooting in the dark . . . "drawing conclusion not in evidence," as is said in a court of law. Why not wait for this questioner to reply to the questions which I have posed to him, so that a real differential diagnosis can be established?
