See a podiatrist for paring down of the corn (generally painless or very minimal discomfort, even if the corn is very tender removing it is generally not!)
Soft corns ( asi suspect this is) as mentioned previously are basically a result of pressure, friction and sweat combining and sweaty work boots are a greatstart for them!
I would see a podiatrist and get it removed and they will discuss with you prevention options to slow down the rate at which it returns/possibly stop it returning. This should include a discussion on footwear so take along the offending workboots. Also have a think about your other footwear as well to ensure it is appropriate/not contributing.
The major issue is to address the pressure that has caused the corn to form so footwear and padding options are the main two prongs of attack. Agreed to steer clear of medicated corn pads, they tend to make a rubbery, soggy mess and actually make it more difficult for the pod. to remove the corn well. Can also create wounds, particularly if they slip and start to "attack" normal skin!
Non medicated corn pads or silicone gel toe dividers/cushions from the pharmacist should help or the podiatrist may make you a custom made silicone toe separator to reduce pressure - good luck!! |
