Okay here's my DEAL as well as MY DEPRESSION AND MY DRINKIN PROBLEM(just joking ...well ah little bit!!!) Im 30 (wow i just wrote that for the first time in a sentence and it just hit) Alright i'll get on with it ...I had bunion surgery about 8 weeks ago I had a bone fused as well. I am having so much trouble walking on that foot with out crutches. My doctor said the x-rays are great and nothing else indicates why i shouldn't be able to put weight on it . My problem is with the last two toes and more so with the joint/ ball behind my last toe . I can't put my weight on it and have my heel touch the floor at the same time.I feel like i have a bunion on that toe. (is that even possible)It's just that that ball is so painful and is inabling me to walk or put weight on it. The pain isn't that im just afraid or that it's just in my head either. Believe me i know what pain is. While in my cast recovering from surgery I fell down the stairs and dislocated my shoulder and had to stay in an immobilizer and which happened to be the same side as my cast. While trying to rest and recover from that if i needed to move around or get anything i had to do the bunny hop everywhere. Oh until one day i tried hopping up the stairs backwards(because that was the side the railing was on and i needed my free arm to help guide me up and thats only because i couldn't use crutches)anyhow I didn't clear the third step as well as the other two and I smacked the back of my heal on the step and twisted my ankle just before flipping aroung in mid air to fall on my back and not on my shoulder which i still don't know how i managed to do.
After yet another set of x-rays on a different body part i was placed in an air cast on that foot because i sprained my ankle and tore the achilies tendon. And mind you all three are seperate injuries. After a while it was easier and shorter to say yes when people asked if i was in an accident.(but who ever is reading this isn't so lucky and dosen't get the short version ,you can tell by reading this far i have time on my hands the sad part is it's not a short fiction story THIS IS MY LIFE#@%#$%)
As you can see i am a bit of a calamedy one might say. So I hope I made you smile at least knowing it could always be worse. You can laugh too and thank god you don't have to deal with me every day (if you should feel bad for anyone it should be for my boyfriend ,roomate and down stairs neighbors who all cringe when they hear me call their names because they can only imagine what the heck i'm going to ask them to do or help me get to.)
So thats where you come in...Please tell me there are some sort of exercises I can do to help speed up my recovery? Something I can do without causing further harm headache or misery to myself, my doctor or the people I live with.....(and something besides wearing a padded suit or bumper pads, i only get tossed around the house when nothings on T.V. and everyone is bored!!!)
My doctor says I am gaurding my foot and thats why I don't have more range of motion but he doesn't get how painful the last two toes are when I try to put weight on them and extending over my foot is impossible. It feels like I am going to break my foot and in a strange way i feel like it needs to be broken or something like it in order to be able to walk. I feel like i will never be able to stand /walk or put my foot at a 90 degree angle again. It has been almost two weeks since i've been out of my cast and yesterday he told me no more walking cast. Which I agree because I was pretty much walking on the surgery side of the foot because of the pain on the last two toes in it.Also my foot and ankle would swell every day to the point anyone would look at it would comment on how i looked like i was hidding a 3lb meatball in my ankle and using sausage links to dub as toes.
Could there be something wrong with the joint in my last toe that doesn't show up in the x-rays.
My Dr. said I should have extended my achilies tendon when i got the bunion surgery and the bone fused . Is there any exercise that can help with that now?????
