Hello. My husband has big toe problems and the dR. states that he will probably need surgery. What happened was 6 years ago he ran approx 10 miles a day and had a large callus form on each of his big toes. He had never had any problem with his feet before and decided to trim them himself. MISTAKE! His toes became infected. His primary Dr was very concerned when he saw the infected toes. But, especially the right big toe. Thought of amputation was even mentioned. My husband is a thirty year old in perfect health. Believe me, they have taken blood and taken it again. No diabetes or any other medical problems. The toes were healed and the Dr. (podiatrist) advised him he could start running again. Which he couldn't wait to do. He started running and within a couple days he was back into the podiatrists. Toes had become infected and he was advised to start the whole process over. This has been the vicious cycle for the last six years. He has been advised that he will probably not be able to run without this surgery. That is just about killing him. He wants to run. It seems like his toes never really heal completely. At present, he seems to always worry about his toes and if he walks too much the callus' become ulcers and infection. Has anyone hurd of anything like this before? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. |
