my mother has charcot feet but she is not diabetic. She underwent an operation on one foot because her doctors thought it would be best to do one at a time, however she got an mri result back today that the operation was useless because the "bone collapsed" again. After her operation she was given a "camwalker?? (i am not sure if this is what its called but its a boot that goes up to her knee" that was improperly sized to her foot and offered no support and I feel this is why the operation failed. The camwalker that was given to her also rubs against her ulcer and it just wont heal. Her feet are nearly identical and deforemed even though one was previously operated on. I dont know alot about charcot feet and I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can get information about it. I dont know if she wants another dreadful operation but I was just hoping there was some way to just relieve the pain in her feet. They are almost completely overturned and I was just wondering if some sort of boot or cast would help.
Also, her ankles have gotten significantly thinner over the years and in the little that I do know about charcot feet, i have never heard of this symptom.
Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
