I had bunion surgery on my left foot in 1987. Just in the last few years my big toe on that foot is starting to turn toward my other toes. I went to a doctor and he said they could go in and "?Clip" something to take the pressure off and let that toe straighten back up. Since then it has gotten a good bit worse and my other toes are starting to turn also. I want to have something done before it gets too far gone, but I need to know what to expect and what type of recovery. Also, when I wear walk bare-footed I feel a thickness and knotty area up under the base of my foot where my toes connect. If I walk too long in a non-padded shoe like some sandles, it really begins to hurt.

I just had lateral epicondylectomy (tennis elbow) surgery on my right elbow in January and then my left in May, so I'm not exactly anxious for another surgery and time off of work.

Any suggestions or information on the type of surgery I would need? I think the bunion area is o.k. It's just my toes are turning now and my big toe is soon to take over my next toe! Yuk! (I'm 45 so I still like to wear sandles. I am careful to buy shoes that fit pretty good and are comfortable.)
