I recently wrote in about a six year old ballerina who is experiencing heel pain while she is at the barre doing exercises where she is required to put all her weight on one foot. She doesn't have pain when she is doing exercises with both feet on the floor, or when she is dancing in center floor. The pain is only during this one type of exercise. Sever's disease was suggested as a possible problem. The little girl's dad also has fallen arches/flat feet, not sure which. I've read that some children can have little to no arch in their feet, which can cause a strained feeling in the heel when performing this type of exercise, and that this condition usually goes away as the child grows. I know it's impossible to say without a competent examination of the little girl's feet, but does anyone have any other ideas for this child?
