Thanks Tom....it is a beauty and I appreciate the history lesson. I'm happy to have it as it was so similar to one I had back in '68 and left it in San Pedro when I joined the Marine Corps. It is still really sweet, but will never be ridden again till I hand it off to my grandkids someday. I would love to get a birth certificate, and if Bing is in town and not in Idaho, I am hoping to get him to sign it someday. I talked with him several times at Linda Bensons event in Cardiff and have never asked him if he would consider it. I had around 45 60's boards at one time and after giving a bunch away to friends and I did sell 5 lesser names, I still have 15 that are the core of a collection to be given to my grandkids when I leave this earth. This board is my most prized for me. I looked for years before I found it. It's hanging in my daughters surf shop and looks great. I am the guy who started and organized the Rabbit Kekai Costa Rica event, and started the Womens World Championships again, so I have a great love for the sport and our history of surfing. So thanks again Tom for the info and I would like to talk with Gerard if possible and I can assure him it is greatly appreciated in a good home.If you send me his email I will make contact. If I need to send money for the Birth Certificate please let me know..........hankraymond45@yahoo.com |
