Normal feet do no produce corns simply because they are used very frequently. But that being said, actual corns are not very common on the feet of 9 year old children. I think that you first need to take him to a podiatrist to see if what you are calling corns are really corns, and if so, to get to the specific mechanics of why he is developing them. Keep in mind that rollerskating is not an innately intended use of feet, and accordingly, the foot does not function in a normal ambulatory manner during such an activity. The proper fitting of the skate shoes and having a foot type conducive and shaped to the wearing of such a shoe and the subjecting of the feet to such an activity may be critical to either accentuating or reducing the inertial pressures and rubs which may underlie such a problem. It would be my general thought that one so young who is developing foot problems due to a specific and voluntary use of the foot should best find another activity if the problem cannot be or is not resolved.
