My basic advice would be to see a podiatrist for a full assessment and explanation of your treatment options. This could be anything from footwear assessemnt and advice to padding options to orthotics or possibly even surgical options down the track. If you want to try something simple before seeking advice i would suggest making sure you are wearing good solid lace up shoes preferably that are wide enough particlaularly in the forefoot/bunion area and perhaps a pad from the pharmacist to support the metarsal arch. Obviously having some extra weight will unfortunatley exacerbate the problem, although a little difficult to do lots of walking for weight control when your feet are sore!! - so go to pod. and get it started there and maybe you can look at diet and low impact exercise options in the mean time such as swimming or cycling. Good luck! |
