I mentioned in the original posting about Henry McLeish, First Minister for Scotland coming under close scrutiny, which revolved around a sub let of official use offices and not declared. The amount of 'gain' mentioned on last Thursday's BBC Question Time was £9,000, which Henry McLeish had offered to pay back.
Today, he has announced his resignation and there are five points worth making.
1. The facts have been squeezed out little by little and the amount in question has since risen to £36,000.
2. Henry McLeish has felt forced to resign due to intense pressure after this revelation, showing that he had been 'economical with the truth'.
3. The combination of dishonesty, deviousness, and cover ups, followed by close scrutiny, constant and increasing pressure, finally brought him down.
4. It adds another reason to why we are less inclined to believe all the denials from councillors and officals of all wrongdoings, against such a huge tide of, let's call them 'suspicious events and circumstances'.
5. To all suspects out there - be sure your sins will find you out! (Eventually). |
