Four months ago I had a gastrocnemius recession and radiofrequency ablation done on my foot. The wounds healed fine but ever since I have had burning pain in the lower lateral part of my heel. Two months ago I had a nerve block and all pain went away for a day. I assume I have a nerve problem but my Dr. has given up. He says that he doesn't know why it hurts where it does. Is it likely to be damage to the sural nerve? I can feel a light touch along the side of my foot although it is semi-numb right near the back of the heel. How can I find out what is causing the pain and what can I do about it? I've been off work since the surgery as standing for lengthy periods is unbearable. |
